1. What is Petdentity?

2. What is Microchip?

About the size of a grain of rice, a microchip is an electronic chip enclosed in a glass cylinder. It does not contain a battery—the microchip can only be activated when a special scanner is passed over the implantation area. The chip transmits your pet’s identification number, which displays on a screen. If you’ve registered your pet’s ID number and your contact information with Petdentity database, you can be contacted and your pet can be returned to you.

Microchip Implants can be used to update the medical record and pets and pet owner’s security and other important information.

Vet clinics, animal shelters and municipal animal control facilities usually have scanners capable of reading microchips. When the chip is scanned, the number is matched in a database to determine the owner’s contact information so the pet can be returned.

3. How is a microchip implant?

Microchips can be implanted as part of a regular veterinary exam. Using a needle your vet will inject the microchip just under the skin of your pet. Microchips are normally implanted in between the shoulder blades of the animal, but your veterinarian will choose the most appropriate location for your pet’s microchip. Microchip implants are also known as ID chips or injectable ID chips.

4. What Age of the pet can be microchip?

Puppies and kittens can be safely micro chipped after 8 weeks of age, it is really the size of the pet that determines the safe placement of a microchip.

8. Who is qualified to inject the microchip?

You should have a Veterinary professional perform the procedure. Veterinarians, and Veterinarian Technicians, are trained and familiar with microchip delivery systems and are most qualified to perform the procedure.

9. My pet is lost! Can you track it with a microchip? / Will a microchip tell me my pet’s location?

Pet microchips are not tracking devices and do not work like global positioning devices (GPS). They are radio-frequency identification (RFID) implants that provide permanent ID for your pet. Because they use RFID technology, microchips do not require a power source like a GPS. When a microchip scanner is passed over the pet, the microchip gets enough power from the scanner to transmit the microchip’s ID number and pet owners information that a City Pounds or Vet can be able to contact the rightful owner of the pet. Since there’s no battery and no moving parts, there’s nothing to keep charged, wear out, or replace. The microchip will last your pet’s lifetime.

11. Why does my pet need a microchip when he already wears a collar with tags?

All pets should wear collar tags imprinted with their name and the phone number of their pet parent, but only a microchip provides permanent ID that cannot fall off, be removed, or become impossible to read. Many Cities/Municipalities started to adopt microchip over collar tags.

12. Can anyone with a scanner access my contact information from the chip?

Microchips carry only a unique identification number.

If your pet gets lost and is taken to a Vet clinic, City Vet, Municipality Vet Office and Animal Shelter, your pet will be scanned for a microchip to reveal his unique ID number. That microchip number can be scan using our Mobile Application, and you will be contacted using the contact information on file with your pet’s microchip.

**It is vital to keep your contact information up to date so that you can be reached.

13. Should I Worry about My Privacy?

The simple answer is “NO.” The only information contained in the microchip is the information you provide at the time you register or update the chip. Only accredited Vet Clinics, LGU, Vet Office, NVQS-BAI has the access on the system.

14. How many times do I need to microchip my pet?

A microchip will normally last the lifetime of your pet because it is composed of biocompatible materials that will not degenerate over time.

16. How does a microchip help reunite a lost animal with its owner?

When an animal is found and taken to a shelter, LGU, City Vet, Municipal Pound or veterinary clinic, one of the first things they do is scan the animal for a microchip. 19. What are the side effect of microchipping a pet?

We are not in Collab with PCCi so far, but our microchip has different purpose with PCCI. They are more on Pedigree while our microchip is more on Pet Safety, Rabies Data Base, Pet Owner Info, and toward advocacy of Rabies Free Philippines 2020.

· If your pet has PCCI Microchip, your pet still can be register to Petdentity with a minimal cost of 100.00 Pesos
